You never know where your teachers appear. As a yoga teacher (and student) I continually refer to the 'guru' lesson; the teachers in our lives that show us the light AND the dark. This is the balance of life just as opposites 'attract'. Our world is built on opposites and the word 'guru' refers to the teacher bringing you out of the dark into the light. This isn't a 'permanent' thing; we will always have moments of darkness to help us see the light.
I turned on the tv yesterday morning with my sweetie and we decided to watch a little 'Joel Olsteen' to see what message he was delivering. It was exactly this lesson put into different words. He mentioned some of his own personal journeys that would 'appear' dark in our opinions, however it is 'through the dark that we find our way to the light'. He referred to the dark as the valley, the low point but as we get the lessons while in the valley (or we don't so we stay stuck) we find our way out to the 'table this is already prepared WAITING for our arrival'. Only WE get in our own way. If only we would get out of our own way most times we could get through to the light and this amazing life waiting for us to claim it! That is what we say metaphysically too; that this abundant, amazing life is waiting for us to claim it so all we gotta do is get out of our own way! The BEST lessons are in the dark! We don't get lessons IN the light, they come in the dark! It is the lessons that give us success, wealth, health and more!
So let life be a great balance and in the meantime, stop dragging your feet, stop whining, stop being so conflicted and just stop being confused! Rise up to your greatness and go for it! Some of my friends stay 'stuck' in their lives for a long time; a relationship they are afraid to leave cause they still like 'parts' of it (even though a lot of what is missing in their lives is right there in that relationship), or a job that is causing them illness, a health issue and more! These are the dark places, but Spirit doesn't want you to linger there forever! Get the lesson, see the light and move your feet to live on this planet in this time for joy, for love and for abundance and growth. Yoga will lead you there which, the expression used here is: "Yoga is a light which once lit, will never dim". Stop looking for what you don't know and go to what you know brings you ease, peace, love, laughter, calm, joy and oh so much more! We are not here to suffer but to grow, body, mind, intelligence and Self. Namaste'
I recently read the book' "Learning to Walk in the Dark". It pointed out that light, as a metaphor, almost always has a positive connotation, whereas darkness is used to represent the unknown or something sinister. However there is beauty in darkness. For example, stars can only be seen at night.
